All about Cartoon Movies’ Chronicle

Do you know that Humorous Phases of Funny Faces (1906) was the first full animation film?  It was produced by a cartoonist of American newspaper, J. Stuart Blackton which portrayed a cartoonist that was drawing a face on the blackboard. While the first character of animation that was very prominent and thriving was Gertie, a Brontosaurus in Gertie the Dinosaur (1914). Containing of 10.000 frames of pictures, Gertie the Dinosaur was created by Winsor McCay, a popular animator for New York Herald. One of the oldest animation movies was a short animation film titled Fantasmagorie (1908) by Emile Cohl from France. In the meantime, an Argentinean animator, Quirino Cristiani, created El Apostol (1917) which was known as the first long animation movie. In 1911, a Soviet animator, Wladislaw Starewicz produced The Grasshopper and the Ant and The Cameraman’s Revenge’s noted as the first stop-motion 3-D” animation movies

Then people won’t forget a very well known cat named Felix, who appeared in hundred of movies since 1919 until 1928. Performing for the first time in Feline Follies and Musical Mews (both in 1919), Felix’ fame dropped down in the year of 1928—after his last appearance in The Last Life—due to the lack of sound technology. Felix was hardly to compete well with a main star of Walt Disney, Mickey Mouse, a very good boyfriend of Minnie Mouse and a good master of Pluto. Along with them, other characters like Goofy and Donald Duck grabs full interest.

Years after, the Walt Disney Studios launched its first animated full length movie—Snow White (1937). Ever since, Disney has adopted stories and legends and turned them into wonderful cartoons for the large screen such as Dumbo, Fantasia, and Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast, Pocahontas and hundreds more. Then, Toy Story (1995) became Disney’s the first full-length computer-animated cartoon.

As a result of much high-level technology, computer animation movies become new idol as cartoonists and their boards have jumped into the computer room and turned into computer animation. Nowadays, animation is lifted up higher and becoming 3D animation movies whom everyone knows a lot: Avatar.
